Montreal, Quebec - June 22, 2012 - The Montreal Canadiens selected centerman Alex Galchenyuk with the third overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Galchenyuk, who is of Belarusian descent, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has represented the United States internationally.
Galchenyuk is a highly skilled offensive player who can create scoring chances for himself and his teammates. He is also a strong skater and has good size for a centerman, standing at 6'1" and weighing 194 pounds.
