Annual Avondale Easter Parade of Antique Cars Returns after Hiatus

March 31, 2023

Avondale Estates, GA –

The 23rd annual Easter Antique Car Parade rolled through the streets of Avondale Estates on Sunday, April 17th, 2022, after a two-year pandemic hiatus. The event, which featured over 100 classic cars, drew thousands of spectators to the city's historic downtown district.

The parade was led by Dorothy Putnam, a 97-year-old Avondale Estates resident who has participated in the event since its inception in 1952. Putnam sat in a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 during the parade, waving to the crowd and enjoying the festivities.

The parade route began at the Avondale Estates City Hall and proceeded down Oak Street, past the city's historic houses and churches. The cars then turned onto Clarendon Avenue and headed back to City Hall.

The parade was a popular event for both residents and visitors alike. Many people brought their blankets and chairs to sit along the parade route and enjoy the show. The parade also featured live music and food vendors.
