Early Life and Career

Clive Davis attended Harvard Law School, but he dropped out after two years to pursue a career in the music industry. In 1960, he joined Columbia Records as an assistant to the president.

In 1967, Clive Davis left Columbia Records to start his own label, Arista Records. Arista Records quickly became one of the most successful record labels in the industry, and Clive Davis was credited with discovering and developing some of the biggest names in music.

In 1974, Clive Davis was fired from Arista Records after a dispute with the label's parent company, CBS. Clive Davis then started his own management company, Clive Davis Management. In 1983, he returned to Arista Records as its president and CEO.

Under Clive Davis's leadership, Arista Records continued to be one of the most successful record labels in the industry. Clive Davis was responsible for discovering and developing some of the biggest names in music, including Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, and Santana.

In 2000, Clive Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
