Marlins Fall To Rockies In Game One Of Series

Marlins Fall to Rockies in Game One of Series

Early Deficit Sinks Miami

The Miami Marlins fell to the Colorado Rockies 7-3 in Game One of their National League Division Series on Tuesday night.

The Marlins trailed early after giving up four runs in the first inning. The Rockies would go on to score one more in the second and another in the third off Miami starter Sandy Alcantara.

Despite the early deficit, the Marlins rallied back to within one run in the third inning on a two-run home run by Brian Anderson. They would eventually get within one again at 5-4, but could never quite get over the hump.

Missed Opportunities Prove Costly

Miami had multiple chances to tie or take the lead, but came up short each time.

  • In the fifth inning, the Marlins loaded the bases with one out but failed to score.
  • They would strand another two runners in the sixth inning, making the score 5-4 Rockies at that point.
  • Miami left 10 runners on base in total, compared to just four for Colorado.

With the loss, the Marlins now head back to Miami on the brink of elimination. Game Two of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night at Marlins Park.
